Lucapa Diamond Company Ltd. (ASX: LOM, FSE: NHY) is a mining company listed in Australia and Germany that specializes in the production of high-carat and therefore also very high-priced diamonds. Per carat, Lucapa Diamond therefore achieves the highest remuneration worldwide in alluvial diamond mining. More than 75 percent of its revenues now come from the sale of diamonds weighing more than 4.8 carats. Production has been underway at the Mothae mine in Lesotho for two years and at the Lulo mine in Angola since 2015. In addition, the Merlin project is being developed in Australia. As a kimberlite mine, Mothae is one of the very few deposits of this class in the world and is already profitable. More than 23 diamonds weighing more than 100 carats have already been mined at Lulo. In 2021, Lucapa benefited from significantly recovered diamond prices and some particularly large stones mined at Lulo.
